As part of the overall refurbishment and extension of this Cotswold stone house, WG Carter undertook the construction of an ultra modern pool room, gym and more traditional four-car garage block with plant room.
The quadruple garage was constructed from natural stone with cedar doors to match the pool buildings. The floors are in polished concrete with epoxy paint finish to showcase the car collection. Within the garages are a plant room and gardeners store.
The new build pool room which houses the long sleek swimming pool, is joined to the gym/changing rooms by a completely glazed box-style link. The pool is surrounded by Venetian polished plaster ceiling incorporating large curved cornices with details for linear uplighters.
The pool buildings are designed with a traditional Cotswold stone barn profile but with an ultra contemporary finish. They have a steel frame structure, and are constructed of natural Cotswold stone with slate roofs. They incorporate slim glazing bars and large floor to ceiling glass windows that are covered with cedar sliding slatted screens to give privacy in certain areas when required.
The gym features a large 90 degree corner glazed panel with a frameless joint that is the centre piece of the building, looking out onto the stunning views. There is a changing room with WC and showers as well as a bespoke steam room constructed on site.
Underfloor heating was installed throughout the pool and gym. There is a large AV screen in the gym and a house wide music system. Around the pool and gym rooms is stone paving to finish off the contemporary styling of the recreational outbuildings.
